This site is for the RSPCA London South East branch and we are a
registered charity in our own right.
The London South East branch of the RSPCA covers the following wide
area: Abbey Wood, Bermondsey, Blackheath, Brixton, Brockley,
Brockwell Park, Camberwell, Catford, Clapham, Deptford, Dulwich,
Eltham, Greenwich, Herne Hill, Grove Park and Mottingham, Honor Oak,
Kennington, Lambeth, Lewisham, New Cross, Peckham, Plumstead.
Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays, Stockwell, Streatham, Sydenham North,
Thamesmead, West Norwood, Woolwich and Vauxhall.
We have our own charity number and are manned at a local level
purely by volunteers. Our aim is to help the animals in our area in
any way that funds and our own volunteer time allow. We do our best
to rehome abandoned and mistreated animals, and, when funds allow,
we foster such animals.
We aim to help towards the treatment of any animal covered by our
area where the owner cannot afford it, as well as promoting
microchipping and neutering, and offering general advice on animal
welfare.
What to do if you find a sick or injured animal
RSPCA EMERGENCY NUMBER: 0300 1234 999
The RSPCA will pay for initial emergency treatment for animals whose
owner is unknown or cannot be contacted. We will also do our best to
collect such animals and transport them to a vet if necessary.
HOWEVER most areas only have two Inspectors and three or four animal
collection officers to cover the whole of a county. If it is
possible for you to transport the injured animal direct to your
closest vet it is likely that this will give it the best chance of
survival.
To contact the RSPCA control centre about an injured animal, phone
0300 1234 999. This centre is staffed 24 hours, but
because of the very large number of calls it receives, there is a
queuing system to ensure that the most urgent calls are answered
first.
If you are able to take the injured animal direct to a local vet,
payment by the RSPCA can be arranged after you have got there if
necessary. Outside normal surgery hours it is important to phone
ahead to make sure that the surgery is staffed. All vets will have
an emergency number giving details of their arrangements for out of
hours cover.
